Love this place! Indians are huge arabic food and sweet fans. Some of our dishes are inspired by middle-eastern cuisine from centuries ago and one of the items that overlap is baklava. We always get the huge variety tray so everyone can eat whatever tickles their fancy. The baklava is always fresh, crisp, sweet and nutty, never disappoints! My husband loves the long finger looking ones, so I get that for him once in a while :-)

The kunafa and baklava here are crazy good! Since I live in the area, it will save me a trip to shatila in dearborn. I cannot wait to go back!

This is some of the best baklava I have had. It is crispy, buttery and with just the right amount of sweetness. I prefer pistachio baklava and the selection here is great. There are a number of baklava style pastries I've never seen elsewhere. I've been here twice and there were a half dozen customers each time but the wait was not terribly long. I have not tried any of the cakes but they are attractively decorated.

Excellent pastry but the worst customer service. If you live in the area then maybe go there but I can NOT recommend this company for online purchases. The person who answers the phone does not have ANY information. Several emails I sent through the site were never answered. There is no one for me to reach to see if my online order has been sent or will be sent. Again, I STRONGLY discourage online orders if you want peace of mind when placing an order. (The ONLY response I got was from someone who worked there before on the website and somehow still gets some of the order information. He is a concerned person but can not do much to help with this order. He gave me a UPS number but it did not work.) The package arrived after much effort working with UPS to find out the status and of the "former" employee. I suggest you save your self any trouble and avoid ANY online purchases with this entity until you know you can communicate with the staff (i.e., by email and/or phone).

I come here whenever I visit Detroit. Doesn't that count for something? They seem to have a huge catering business. I'm pretty confident almost all of the serious Middle East Pastry in the Detroit area - at least North Detroit comes from here. Think pistachio, miles and miles of filo dough, walnuts, dates and honey - everywhere! Eve did not use an apple - she had a tin of baklava from this place.

I have to give this place 5 stars because I can't think of anything I DON'T like. I can't say it's "The Best..." anything, I just know it's good. The pastries are not overly sweet, but I do love that the simple syrup seeps through the bottom layers, making the pastry light, flaky, and moist at the same time. I go for the pistachio baklava over the walnut. We especially love the kahi, though - an Iraqi cheese-filled pastry. They do a lot of catering and mail-order, but you can also buy single pieces from their display case. If you are in the northern/east suburbs, don't have time to travel to Dearborn (even if you did, I don't think you would need to!), and want fresh middle eastern sweets, this is your place!

Pistachio baklava is awesome! We got a tray and it is so tempting to sit and eat and eat. I don't know if there is any real different in each baklava other than shape ( the cups wit the nuts is different, for sure). The tray we got are sugar free. Sweetened by the honey (or is it agave?), these treat are just perfect. Not overly sweet like the baklava I usually get from the Greek place near me in DC. I'm glad my mom's friend introduced us to this place. It's close to where my mom lives, so I will be making a return visit come Christmastime.

This has been a favorite of my family and friends since I was a child. We love it so much that any happy occasion is used as an excuse to order a tray of the pistachio Baklava. We've taken it to Bombay, London, Austin, Salt Lake City- and we've had it flown in for los Angeles. By far the best tasting Baklava if you prefer Lebanese style to Greek, Turkish, or Iranian. Not sticky or too honey heavy. It was so popular at my nephews One month party (a Chinese tradition- we are Indian) that the waitstaff shared it with the ones waiting on the weddings! The packaging to LA was perfect. Nothing broke and it was fresh. I will order again

Racist remarks and horrible service! My mom has been purchasing sweets from this location for 20 years, but after today's horrible and hurtful experience we will not be going back there ever again. When I came this morning to pick up two cakes, they looked perfect. Unfortunately, the lady at the counter packed them into boxes that were too small, and the bows on both cakes got crushed. I asked for them to fix the cakes, but I was told to stop complaining because they had given me a discount (which was news to us) and hence we were getting the bows for free. After several attempts at pleading with the young lady she eventually relented, and said they could replace the fondant bows with artificial flowers. You could still see the marks where the bows were, but this was the only solution since there wasn't enough time to get cakes from somewhere else. I then asked for a discount given I wasn't getting what I paid for. The owner then came out and started yelling at me, saying I should be happy to get such a great price for a messed up cake, and the young lady who damaged the cakes said, "YOU PEOPLE always do this to us, you just try to hustle us." I then asked what she meant by, "YOU PEOPLE", and the owner scurried her into the back of the kitchen. They gave me $10 back (this was a $200 order), and I left with my messed up cakes.

The Butter Cookies here are off the charts amazing. My son had one of the french pastries & said it was great. The cakes look amazing, but I have never tried one

The baklava here is amazing! It's perfectly flaky and buttery and very sweet but not overly so. My absolute favorites are the half moons. If I remember correctly, they are filled with cashews. You can get a small box of baklava for about $7, or you can get individual pieces. When my cousin was visiting from Texas, we asked her if she'd had baklava before. "Yeah... it was okay..." We then made her try a baklava from this place. She loved it! In fact, it ended up being her favorite food that she tried over here (and that includes donuts from Franklin Cider Mill... I know, it's almost sacrilegious). I've never gone to Shatila in Dearborn, but I was given a baklava from Shatila once, and it was awful. It was dry and stale and didn't have the buttery goodness of a Mid-East Pastry Delight baklava. Who knows, maybe I was given a stale baklava that day. But I'm not about to drive all the way to Dearborn to conduct a taste test when these pastries already send me over the moon.

Mid - East Pastry Delight is the place for quality pastries ~ Baklava Palace ~ the baklava is not super sweet it's just perfect with the right amount of sweetness and a touch of butter flavor... Yum .....Kahi is amazing with a cup of espresso .... every time I visit Sterling Heights or mail order, it's a 5 star ... DELICIOUS!!!!!!! J. T. on that note loool Eve did not use an apple - she had a box of exotic baklava ") Renee ~ Cannot agree with you, the quality and service overall is Excellent ~ Mid East Pastry Delight and Opera sure cater to their customers you should've taken your complaint to a higher level not just left it up to the Manager if you say your cake was """"""""1) the wrong filling and 2) moldy. Yes, there were flecks of green mold in the mousse of the cake"''''''''''''''' are you sure your cake had no green frosting on the cake and left flecks of green spots on the mousse..... I honestly can't believe your comment or experience with a reputable business ~ I've been ordering from this business over 15 years for all of our occasions..... Love it to the last bite DELISH ;)~

Really awesome Middle Eastern pastry can be found at Mid-East Pastry. The best items are the bakalava-related pastries, filled with different toppings, but they have other middle east specialties as well. The only reason I didn't give this place 5-stars is that I have not been to any arab pastry shops in Dearborn and I assume there's some awesome ones there. If this place can stand up to them then I will bestow a coveted 5-star to it. That aside, they produce some of the tastiest baklava I've ever eaten. It can be a little on the pricy side, but the quality of the pastries are well worth a little splurge now and again. Its definitely cheaper than Le Petit Prince or other specialty bakeries in the area.

Baklava-sweet but not too sweet; crisp but not dry; nutty-and just right. If I could justify it I would say this is a health food restaurant. They also have a co owned Italian bakery south of maple on the west side of Orchard Lake St. So good. Take a few pieces home, make coffee and travel to heaven!

I'm sure I'm not qualified to give a baklava review, but I know I really really like what I get here, especially if its a fresh piece, not the pieces already in tins. The boy says he likes the eye candy as well. They are cute girls but the pastry is the reason I go.

Ok here is my recent experience & b/c I feel strongly about this I felt the need to share this: I ordered a cake for a special occasion that took place over the wknd, cake looked good & everyone seemed to like it; on monday I was like let me try a piece so I cut one to eat & another to take to work the next day; as I'm eating my piece I find a hair... I was beyond disgusted & grossed out. I called Mideast pastry & asked to speak to the manager she said she isn't there to call back next day & I asked her if I should save the piece of cake w/ hair in it, she said yes. I called today to speak to the manager & I tell her what happened she asks how much of cake is left I told her the occasion was sat & today is tues so not much was; w/ her rude self she tells me "what can I do, u don't have much left & u found a hair I can't do anything." I told her how can I predict @ what point I would find the hair... As there should Not ever b any! Nasty!! Then she makes it seem as if I'm asking for a refund n that's when I set her straight; I said I made no mention of a refund or anything & shame on her & her greed for thinking that! I told her my fam & I just will no longer b customers of theirs! Realizing she's in the wrong, she said to bring it in. So I went today & took the piece I cut to take to work & the one w/ hair... Ewwww!! The girl that took my order initially is who handled this & when I showed it & talked to her she said she was embarrassed this happened & I told her I wanted to bring this to there attn b/c of so many reasons... unsanitary being one of them!! I told her to tell that manager not to b rude next time someone has a legit n proof (ughh.. Stomach turning). She was really nice & apologetic & insisted that I pick whatever I wanted but I told her thanks but that is was unnecessary but she insisted. She's nice but other lady is just rude... I do want to support local businesses but nasty stuff like that & ppl I def don't have time for! I'm only giving 2 stars b/c she said the proof is there.... (literally) & b/c she listened & was nice.

i would give this place 4 stars on the baklava alone, but the times i've been there, the workers have been so rude, it's ridiculous. the worst i've come across was a certain worker who basically flung the box of pastries on to the counter. when the order total came out, the person i was with, having seen the extreme rudeness from the worker, threw her credit card on to the table. the worker gave her a dirty look and almost seemed like she was surprised by the reaction from my friend. as if she didn't know how rude she was being with our order. the worker then through the card back on to the table, and the order having been processed and paid for, she turned around to some men in the back and began cussing us out. I don't know if she was just having a bad day or something, but I was being polite and nice to her through the whole ordeal, and I don't know how they expect people to come back when they have bad attitudes like that.
